Following last year’s success, The Alternative Commentary Collective (ACC) is back with The ACC Golf Open in association with The Movember Sports Club, and this year they’re taking it on the road with six tournaments across the country.
The ACC Golf Open is golf, but with a twist, played over a unique nine hole, three ball ambrose format. In true ACC style, there will be a strong focus on entertainment across the course and at each and every hole, with funds raised across the six tournaments going to The Movember Foundation.
The ACC’s General Manager and Content Director, Mike Lane says he’s very pleased The ACC Golf Open is returning for another year and for the first time it’s taking place at six courses across the country.
“The ACC Golf Open is a great excuse to take the afternoon off, have some beers, hit some balls and raise some money for a good cause. This summer, we’ll be hitting Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and unlike the LIV Golf Tour, all profits from these events will be going to a good cause” he says.
“The work that the Movember Foundation does is pretty special. They’re leading the way in getting men talking about all the niggly health topics - everything from mental health and suicide prevention to prostate and testicular cancer. The ACC is all about taking a lighter view on the world of sport and having fun in life, so we’re really proud to support them”
“Last year’s one-off tournament sold out in less than a day, so it’s not one to be missed. Plus, we’ve decided to up the ante this year by creating a specific ACC Open app so teams can pre-register and live score as they play around the course,” says Lane.
Robert Dunne, New Zealand Country Manager at Movember says: “We know one of the best men’s health tools is to bring men together and create a platform to talk about and participate in things they enjoy. This also provides the opportunity to provide crucial men’s health information in environment that people enjoy and feel relaxed in.”
“The ACC have a great community who love some socially competitive golf but are also keen to support a great cause with their mates, for their mates. The funds raised will allow us to invest in programmes that help men live happier, healthier and longer lives.”

- PUPUKE Auckland, Friday 9th December 1.30pm
