To kick off their two-year content partnership with Sky Sport, The Alternative Commentary Collective (The ACC) has announced they will be commentating all BLACKCAPS games during the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup on Sky Sport from late October.
This is the first time since 2015 that The ACC has provided commentary of the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, and it comes at a time when The ACC platform is continually growing its scope, audience and fanbase.
General Manager of The ACC, Mike Lane, says the new Sky Sport partnership means fans of The ACC will be able to enjoy the banter they know and love alongside the upcoming BLACKCAPS T20 matches.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Sky Sport to bring The ACC’s entertainment to some of the top sports games across the country. We’re stoked to be kicking off the partnership with the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup. A large portion of our fanbase is cricket fans, so they’ll be able to easily watch all the exciting action unfold on screen, in sync with the unique, entertaining commentary the ACC team provides.”
NZME Chief Radio Officer Jason Winstanley says the expansion into other areas of live sport broadcasting, like international T20 cricket, is great for The ACC, as the platform works towards becoming New Zealand’s leading sports entertainment brand.
“Throughout the course of the two-year content partnership, The ACC will be covering all Super Rugby, ALL BLACKS, Warriors and Silver Ferns games played at home. This is a fantastic opportunity for The ACC to grow their audience and show more Kiwis a unique and entertaining way of engaging in sport.”
Adam Crothers, Head of Sport Partnerships at Sky, says following the success of The ACC commentating several events on Sky Sport earlier this year, it was an obvious step to partner with The ACC to bring even more content to Kiwi sports fans.
“The ACC offers a memorable and entertaining sports experience, and we think fans will enjoy their banter and alternative insights while they are watching their sports heroes on Sky Sport. We’re about giving fans all sorts of ways to watch to suit their location, let alone their mood, and now they can have their cricket straight up and expert with the Sky team or spicy and a smidgen chaotic with The ACC.”
Watch ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup with The ACC commentary live from 20 October on Sky Sport 9 and streaming on Sky Sport Now.
